On the right side it is marked 'Interarms, Alexandria Virginia.' The serial number has no prefixes and no suffixes and is 021XX. In 1968 the US law changed which required Walther to marry the larger PP frame with the shorter PPK slide and barrel, thus the PPK/S was born. It is marked 'Made in USA under license of Carl Walther Waffenfabrik ULM/DO, Model PPK/S Cal 9mm Kurz/380 ACP. All Walther PPK/S were produced in one of 2 places, France or the US. Everything fits perfectly, the blue is deep and beautiful. I've owned and handled many Walther PP series pistols and this one by far is the highest quality that I've ever handled. I did a search looking for Searcher's post but didn't find anything. ![]() It's blank with the exception of the shots fired. There are places for the tester to indicate the caliber, serial number, tester's name and a space for date but the tester failed to fill any of it out. This alteration was not carried out at once and consistently though: Walther PP: In the serial number range from 997 950 to about 998 080 there was simply the suffix P added to the serial number. That said, the stickies seem to be gone (as far as I can tell) and my test target has no information on it. The suffix P was added to the serial numbers of the Walther PP, resp. I know that with the old format for this site there was a sticky done by 'Searcher' some years ago that reported serial numbers with dates indicated on the test targets. I suspect that it was made in 1981 but am not sure. I have a PPK/S which I bought new in 1982.
